EDUCATION Pakistan Fund of Canada provides financial assistance to the very poor to obtain education. For many reasons, unlike advanced countries, there are millions of children who do not attend school in Pakistan. In most cases it is due to poverty, and in some cases, especially for girls’ education, it is either ignorance or cultural reasons Our fund provides financial assistance so the child can attend school. A stipend is paid to the mother on a monthly basis. The amount of this is 20 to 25 percent of the family income. This amount supplements, not only their meagre income, but also provides the necessary incentive for the family to make sure the child not only stays in school but does well in their studies. We have deliberately encouraged enrollment of girls in our program so now more than 60% of the students in our program are girls.

FAMILY PLANNING

Due to the high population growth rate, economic development is hampered despite whatever level of economic growth occurs. Pakistan has limited resources for over 220 million population. The country has had a family planning program since 1965 but it has not been effective for a variety of reasons. Even now most women have a high fertility rate, producing at least 5 children. The fund informs all the families that are being assisted about the benefits of a smaller family. Since most already have at least three children, we insist they practice family planning.
OUR MISSION
The mission of the Pakistan Fund of Canada is to provide assistance to poor families in Pakistan in the areas of education, health and family planning.
EMERGENCY SUPPORT The poor in Pakistan are not well served by the health care system. Therefore over the years, our Fund has, whenever possible, provided financial support for crucial medical care. Due to poor water supply many children suffer from diarrhea . Families are encouraged to boil the water they drink and stick to cooked food. The fund helps these families by educating them about basic hygiene. During the 2010 Floods millions lost their homes, cattle and crops. Even though this was beyond the normal scope of our Charity, we were pleased to assist.
